Sunday arvo – Andrew, Tom and I – A trio taken from the larger conglomerate known as Team ‘whippit’ – took a trip up the road to Squamish for an xc loop…. This was my first trip back since i concussed myself last time here..

Anyways – a bit nippy, we set off – a little downhill section first, then a gradual nice gradient along sweet, crispy (crunchy/icy) single track…

I was actually battling the bike all the way as the other two on their TEAM Kona Dawgs left me for dead..!… i had changed my brake pads in the morning and they were rubbing harder than a pubescent teenager locked away in his closet!… It was so bad i reckon it would have been easier on my 48lb Downhill bike! Both wheels were so bad,they wouldn’t spin even a half revolution no matter how hard you tried!

So not too many photos from this quickish ride.. about 2 hours.. but yeah, i even had to pedal the bike on the relatively flattish downhill – except for the end where it was called ‘rollercoaster’ – you can imagine buff singletrack and nice burmed corners, kinda reminded me of some of the fast trails at Rotorua.. ooo… but yeah, maybe only about 30secs of excitement there!

Winter is definitely here…bitterly cold and frosty mornings, single figure highs – frostbite-style night riding in the woods…!…. “dang cold” as my german friend puts it!!

I even got to do a few drops/wee gap jump at the end of the ride with some local squamish GROMS.. Even Tom reckoned they were the usual ‘over-enthusiastic’ highball smelly little beings…

So glad to see the language of grom is the same over here…. and yeah, had a good chat with the little creatins…. ‘its easy!!!, do it!!!, oh is that a 243 racing? (name dropping grom #3, on the grommy Kona hardtail..)……. .. etc…etc… oh kids on bikes, classic

Wax those skis…….. roll on the snow!..
